Conservation

Our land trust's mission is to protect open space, agricultural and forested lands, critical riparian and other habitat, and lands of historical significance through voluntary, nongovernmental means with an emphasis on private ownership of protected lands.

Interested landowners work with a Land Trust when they wish to permanently protect the unique productive, ecological, scenic, historic, or recreational qualities of land they own from unwanted or consumptive uses. Blue Mountain Land Trust provides services to landowners in Walla Walla and Columbia Counties in Washington and Umatilla County in Oregon. We help choose a conservation strategy that meets landowners' protection desires and financial needs.  Please review the conservation methods available and call or email our office for additional information.
